Remote 3D Displacement Sensing for Large Structures with Stereo Digital Image Correlation

The work performance of stereo digital image correlation (stereo-DIC) technologies, especially the operating accuracy and reliability in field applications, is not fully understood. In this study, key technologies remote 3D displacement sensing civil structures based on stereo-DIC have been proposed. An algorithm incorporated improving matching control points. adaptive extrinsic parameter calibration method developed by fusing epipolar-geometry-based homography-based methods. Furthermore, a reliable reference frame that does require artificial markers established Euclidean transformation, which facilitates in-plane out-of-plane monitoring for structures. Moreover, camera motion correction introduced considering background points according to model. With an experiment, feasibility proposed system are validated. applied sense dynamic 2 MW wind turbine’s blades. results show potential capability capturing full-field responses health status large-scale
